15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 3

Day 3!

Unfortunately I don't think this is going to be an overly interesting post because I really don't follow many other blogs, but there are three that I do:

  • Little Bookworm Reviews
    • This blog is run by someone I know in real life, and has been my biggest inspiration for getting my own log  up and running again, and I modeled a bit after it too.
  • Steph Su Reads
    • First book blog I ever read, and I think it originally inspired me to be more critical about my pleasure reading to pass along better reviews to people who ask for them (my friends and at work).
  • PostSecret
    • If you haven't heard of this you may be living under a rock.  I've always wanted to send a secret it, but have never worked up the courage.  I own the latest of the books.
  • Kids Give Me Hope
    • This blog is just inspiring and does give me hope for the generation below mine.  Not all the kids are snot-nosed little brats (just the majority).
You know the drill, tune in tomorrow!

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 2

Day 2 is here!

What is your bedtime reading ritual?

I rarely read a book before I go to bed.  If I start reading one, I won't stop until it's finished and it's like 3 a.m.. Instead I read fanfiction on my laptop until my eyes are too tired to stay open!  I am such an addict for fanfiction, and appreciate those amazing authors out there who publish their work on free websites about our favorite tv shows, books, and movies; and they get so little credit for it!

The primary genres I read are Harry Potter and Glee!  My favorites can be found here (and I mean under the favorite stories tab, because under the default tab are things I wrote and I'm not proud of the older ones).

Come back tomorrow to see what blogs I love to read!

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 1

Okay, I've seen this on a few blogs now and decided to do it!  For those of you who can't read it in the picture (like me unless I'm holding my computer screen an inch from my face) here are the days:

  1. Make 15 book related confessions.
  2. What's your bedtime reading ritual?
  3. Who are your blogging BFFs?
  4. What is the last book you flung across the room?
  5. Recommend a tearjerker.
  6. Describe how you shop for books.
  7. Talk about your blogging quirks.
  8. Quick! Write 15 bullet points of things that appeal to you on blogs!
  9. why do you blog about books?
  10. How do you choose what book to read next?
  11. How do you fight blogger fatigue?
  12. Describe one underappreciated book EVERYONE should read.
  13. Tell us your deal breakers.
  14. Who are your book blogging mentors?
Okay, so Day 1:

Make 15 book related confessions:
  1. I can barely ever finish a non-fiction book that isn't required reading, about a war, or something crime related.
  2. I work at a library.
  3. Even though I love books and love owning them, I hate the clutter.  So I donate at least 100 books to my local library once a year to keep my collection reasonable.
  4. Though I love books that make me think, my favorite author is Nicholas Sparks.
  5. I often read as procrastination from school work.
  6. I have a nook tablet even though I hate the idea of printed books ceasing to exist.
  7. My current favorite genre is dystopian young adult.
  8. I love reading books that are depressing, even though they make me depressed.
  9. I own nearly every Lurlene McDaniel book written (which is close to 30 I think).
  10. I used to be a manga addict.
  11. Obscure books no one has ever heard of are more fun to read then the ones on the bestseller lists.
  12. My favorite genre of adult reading is gay male romance.
  13. I don't count harlequins as "books."
  14. I judge every book by its cover and won't read a book with a cover I don't like unless it comes highly recommended by someone who's opinion I trust.
  15. I feel embarrassed by my love for m/m romance books.
Alright, there's the first day!  Stop by tomorrow for day 2!

Summer Cover Love

So it's officially summer (well, it has been for a bit now), and I have seen some awesome new young adult covers that just make me feel summer-y!

The Distance Between Us by Kasie WestSeventeen-year-old Caymen Meyers studies the rich like her own personal science experiment, and after years of observation she’s pretty sure they’re only good for one thing—spending money on useless stuff, like the porcelain dolls in her mother’s shop.

So when Xander Spence walks into the store to pick up a doll for his grandmother, it only takes one glance for Caymen to figure out he’s oozing rich. Despite his charming ways and that he’s one of the first people who actually gets her, she’s smart enough to know his interest won’t last. Because if there’s one thing she’s learned from her mother’s warnings, it’s that the rich have a short attention span. But Xander keeps coming around, despite her best efforts to scare him off. And much to her dismay, she's beginning to enjoy his company.

She knows her mom can’t find out—she wouldn’t approve. She’d much rather Caymen hang out with the local rocker who hasn’t been raised by money. But just when Xander’s attention and loyalty are about to convince Caymen that being rich isn’t a character flaw, she finds out that money is a much bigger part of their relationship than she’d ever realized. And that Xander’s not the only one she should’ve been worried about.

September Girls by Bennett MadisonWhen Sam's dad whisks him and his brother off to a remote beach town for the summer, he's all for it-- at first. Sam soon realizes, though, that this place is anything but ordinary. Time seems to slow down around here, and everywhere he looks, there are beautiful blond girls. Girls who seem inexplicably drawn to him.

Then Sam meets DeeDee, one of the Girls, and she's different from the others. Just as he starts to fall for her, she pulls away, leaving him more confused than ever. He knows that if he's going to get her back, he'll have to uncover the secret of this beach and the girls who live here.

Invisible by Cecily Anne PatersonJazmine Crawford doesn't make decisions. She doesn't make choices. She doesn't make friends. Jazmine Crawford only wants one thing: to be invisible. For Jazmine, it's a lot easier to take out her hearing aid and drift along pretending that nothing's wrong than it is to admit that she's heartbroken. She starts to come out of her shell when she's forced to be in the school play and even makes friends with bouncy Gabby and chocolate-loving Liam. But can she stand up to the school bully, and is she strong enough to face the truth about what really happened to her dad?

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire SáenzAristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special friendship—the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves and the kind of people they want to be.
