New Books (and a new release)!

Hello everyone!  I have exciting news (at least for me), I got a bunch of new books this week!

The books that are new to me but not new:

Great American Short Stories
Family - Micol Ostow
Rent - Jonathan Larson
Grimm's Fairy Tales - The Brothers Grimm

And the one I'm really excited about:

The Land Of Stories: The Enchantress Returns - Chris Colfer

I have been waiting for this book since I finished the first one!  He is amazing at writing fantasy and staying true to the original tales while still putting his own twist on them!  For a review of the first book of the series (The Land Of Stories: The Wishing Spell) click here.

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 15 (Last Day!)

Day 15! (Last Day!)

Who are your book blogger mentors?

Well, I can't say I actually "talk" to any of the bloggers I follow, but my biggest influence has definitely been Little Bookworm Reviews (a link for which you can find under the "Book Blogs I Follow" tab.

I love her posts and her set-up of her blog.  Her reviews are very personal to her taste, while still being honest and informative.  I love how she has certain posts she does on certain days too (I could never stick to that schedule!)

I'm always looking for more blogs to follow though, so anyone have some to suggest?  Leave a comment =)

In my next post here I think I'll try something different (not a review, or a cover collage, or anything like that), but I don't know what yet.  So keep checking back.

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 14

We're almost done with this challenge!  Which is really good, cause at this point I'm kinda sick of it (and I'm pretty sure I'v told you guys that before).

Day 14:

Tell us your deal breakers.

For loving books, I am actually really picky about some things.

First, I won't read anything written with British-style quotations, i.e. 'this' instead of "this".  It just drives me nuts and my brain doesn't seem to transition between dialogue when it's like that.  It's an annoying quirk, because I know I'm missing out on a lot of good books, but for now it is how it is.

Second, plagiarism   That's kinda obvious though, right?  If you decide to steal someone else's work because you can't come up with your own, that's just unacceptable.  Accidental plagiarism is a different entity though, because it's entirely possible you've read something in your life and it inspired some details, and on the other end you can't read everything out there, so how are you supposed to know sometimes?

Third, a book over 500 pages, I just don't have the attention-span right now.  I have in the past (I have read all the Harry Potter books after all), and I'm sure this deal breaker will disappear in the future.
